It's an Addiction.....

In the summer of 2014 I bought a couple of things from The Body Shop and decided to get one of the loyalty cards. This way the next time I buy something, I would get 10% off. And that is when it started. It went from buying a face wash and body mist to body butters, body scrubs and hand creams. I just can't stop (cue Miley Cyrus We Can't Stop).

All of the products smell absolutely amazing, fresh and natural, that's why I love them. Every product I have bought hasn't failed to disappoint: the body butters and hand creams keep my skin moisturized, the body scrubs exfoliate all the dead skin leaving my skin silky smooth, the body mists are long lasting, the shower gels foam quickly and the face wash keeps my spots at bay.

My collection consists of:

  • Three Body Scrubs - Vineyard Peach, Brazil Nut and Coconut
  • Four Hand Creams - Frosted Cranberry, Glazed Apple, Strawberry and Mango
  • Two Body Mists - Vineyard Peach and Glazed Apple
  • One Lip Butter - Strawberry
  • One Hand Sanitizer - Strawberry
  • Two Shower Gels - Passion Fruit and Glazed Apple
  • One Face Wash - Tea Tree Oil

What are your favourite body shop products?

Turn That Frown Upside Down...

For this week's post I thought I would do a chatty post and throw in a couple of my own experiences and advice...

How you act in your day to day life can influence what sort of day you have. For example, if you start the day with a positive attitude and a smile on your face, then you are more than likely going to have a good day. If you are in a crabby mood in the morning then you are more than likely going to have a rubbish day.
I have woken up before felling really agitated and stressed and ended up taking it out on family and friends, not the best thing to do. On the other hand, I have woken up in a great mood and always felt like smiling throughout the day.

If you find that you are quite the grouch in the morning then here are a few tips as to what to do:

Make a good cup of tea or coffee
I don't know whether it is because I am British or what, but having a cup of tea really seems to relax me and make me feel a lot better.

Have a nice hot shower/bath
There is nothing like feeling rubbish and having a hot shower/bath. It gives you a chance to collect your thoughts for the day and get any emotion out, whether that is cry, laugh, sing or hit your head against the wall.

Play your "happy tunes"
I don't know whether it is just me or what, but I find that playing some of my favourite upbeat songs really puts me in a good mood. A little tip, sometimes having your headphones in with music on full blast and dancing around the house really really helps.

Talk to someone
I find that talking to a family member or friend or even a teacher at school really helps to take some weight off my shoulders.

What makes you happy?

The Best of 2014

2014 was a very big year for me as I started to become more independent and started to explore different places and opportunities.

In February I started my blog which was a big step for me and took a lot of courage. A blog was something I had never thought of starting as I didn't really know anything about and didn't think it would benefit me. However, it has opened quite a few windows for me as it gives me something to do in my spare time instead of binge watching my favourite TV shows, gives me the chance to become more creative and also gives me the courage to give my opinions and not give a damn about what people think. It also gives me the experience of what a career in journalism might be like.
I also tried my very first Bubble Tea thanks to one of my friends. It was amazing and tasted so good. I NEED MORE! In February I also went for a really long walk with one of my friends around the area I live in. I was knackered after it, but it was so beautiful and peaceful.

In March I started my work experience at Premier Inn which I thoroughly enjoyed. Even though hospitality isn't something I want to go into, I actually really liked spending two weeks there as it showed me how work life is and how things work after your school life. It also gave me the opportunity to meet new people and go out of my comfort zone by going to work on my own without my friends to talk to.

In July I finished another year of school and waved bye to Year 10. I also ventured down to Watford with my friend and her family for her birthday. We went to The Harry Potter Studios which was amazing. Instead of boring you with the details again, you can read about it here.

In November I went on the train to Leeds for a girly shopping trip with one of my friends, It was amazing, being able to escape the Sheffield bubble and venture somewhere new. I will never forget that day. I also turned 16, to celebrate I went out for a meal with my sisters, dad and my dad's girlfriend, which was eventful. I also went to the zoo with my sisters, mum and mum's boyfriend and then went out for tea with them. The whole day made me feel like a big kid, which you can read about here.

In December I obviously celebrated Christmas which ,F.Y.I, was amazing. I came downstairs so excited and was shaking because I was that ecstatic. On the 26th it snowed in Sheffield! I also went down to London with my sisters, mum and mum's boyfriend. On the first night me and my sisters went to Apollo Victoria to see Wicked for my birthday present, you can read about it here. One the second day in London we went shopping and I did a little damage to my bank account, but it was worth it (yeah Jess. Try saying that when you have no money). When back home I did further damage to my bank account and bought a laptop, which I desperately needed since my old one was smashed to pieces.

What were the best times of your 2014?

Not a Palette Lover

For a while now I have been in love with palettes as they are convenient and easy to store. However, recently I have fallen out of love with palettes as I find that I only use or two of the shades from the palette and the rest get neglected and left. Now I have made it my mission to find a single eye shadow version of some of my favourite shadows from my palettes, that way they will get used up and the not neglected.

I have already started this mission by going into Superdrug and picking out some shades that are similar or the same as the ones in  my palettes. So far I have the shades:

  • Finally.... By Makeup Revolution to use instead of Taupe from my Sleek Au Naturale Palette
  • Milk Chocolate by Natural Collection or Hung Up by Makeup Revolution instead of the taupe brown from my W7 Angle Eyes Palette

What drugstore nude and natural single eye shadows do you recommend?

Defying Gravity

For my 16th birthday, my sisters bought me tickets to see Wicked in London. Since I didn't know the story line or what the hell Wicked was, I wasn't that excited but I was very grateful for the present and how much effort they had put into my present. As it got closer and closer to the day I got more and more excited, but I still didn't really have a great understanding as to what Wicked was. All I knew at this point was that it was linked to The Wizard Of Oz.

After Christmas Day and Boxing Day it was finally time to venture down to London and see the show! It was an absolute trek from the hotel to the theatre as we were staying on the outskirts of London. We had to get numerous tubes from one place to another and then walk through the busy London traffic to get there. Inside there was a definite theme of green going on as every room had green luminous lights lit. When we took our seats the set was the first thing I was drawn to as it had a massive dragon above it, as shown above.

When the show had finished I was kind of upset about just how quickly it had gone by.The story line, songs and characters just seemed to suck me into a whole other world. I fell in love with everything to do with it, so much so that I was singing some of songs in my head on the tube home.

In my opinion, Wicked is an amazing show to go and watch if you are an adult or an older teenager. If I was to describe the show I would say that it is very green, catchy and WICKED! (great play on words Jess).
If you ever get the chance to go and see Wicked I would definitely say you should go for it.

What is your opinion on Wicked? What shows would you recommend?
