Candle Corner #5 - Primark Winter Berry

This is the fifth Candle Corner and for this post I am going to write about the Primark small jar candle in Winter Berry. I bought this candle just before Christmas when I was wandering through Primark for 80p.
In my opinion, these Primark jar candles are a great cheap alternative for Yankee Candles as they burn for the same amount of time but for a massive discounted price.
Primark also do a massive range of candles from pillar candles to tea lights.

The scent is supposed to be a Christmas scent since it is Cinnamon and Maple, however I really like burning it at this time of the year because, yes it is Spring but it is still cold and rubbish weather.

What's in my make up bag/ Make up collection

I haven't done a what's in my make up bag post in a while and I thought since I have expanded my collection of products that I have in there, I should do a post. Also, my make up bag holds all of my make up, so it gives you a little insight into my collection.

I hold all my make up in a cream make up bag with silver and pearl hardware on it from Primark. It was around £3, so not that expensive.

MY current primer that I am trying out is the Rimmel Stay Matte. I have only used it once, but so far so good.

My current foundation is the Rimmel Match Perfection in Ivory. This foundation works really well with my skin as it gives it a little oomph. Also, the shade matches perfectly, just like the name says.

For concealer I use the W7 Hide and conceal and the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in light porcelain. I use the different shade of my current favourite foundation because it highlights the under eye area.

I currently use, and will always use, the Rimmel Stay Matte because it is really good at prolonging my make up and keeps me shine free for the day, see review here.

Eye shadow
I currently use the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creamy Beige, see review here and the Makeup Revolution eye shadow in Hung up. Together these two eye shadows look really natural. My collection also consists of the MAC eye shadow in Arena, see review here, Makeup Revolution eye shadow in Finally... and the Natural Collection eye shadow in Milk Chocolate. I also have the Sleek Palette in Au Naturale and the W7 Angel Eyes palette.

I currently use two mascaras and they are the Collection Fat Lash and Clinique High Impact Mascara. Together, these two products make my eyelashes look full and fluttery but not clumpy.

Eye Liner
I don't actually use eye liner but it's better to be safe then sorry. In my collection I have the Laval eye kohl in Black and the Avon soft and sleek Arabian glow kohl in deep purple.

In my collection I have two lipsticks that are on the other side of the spectrum to each other. One is a beautiful pinky nude and the other is a bold red. The nude is from Sleek and is in the shade Barely There, see review here and the red is from Rimmel and is in the shade Alarm.

I also have a handful of make up brushes, make up utensils and samples from magazines that I carry around.

Hauley Moley

A week or so ago I went to visit my sister in Chester for the day with my dad and his girlfriend. Whilst there I may have done a little damage, oops!

First stop was Primark as I needed some new running gear. Whilst there I picked up a pair of the slim leg jogging bottoms in a dark grey and some trainer socks. The jogging bottoms are so soft and very comfortable and so are the trainer socks. They are both a pretty good quality to say that they only costed £8 all together. So far so good!

Next was New Look. For ages I have been wanting some high waisted black skinny jeans since I have a few blue tops that don't go with my blue jeans. I had been trolling the internet to find the perfect pair but all New Look had were Super Skinny. I didn't think the Super Skinny style would feel comfortable enough for me so I never even gave them a second until..... My sister picked them up in the shop and said "try these" among with a few other pairs of black jeans. I was a bit skeptical about them but once I had them on, I was in love. The stretchyness of them made them ubber comfy and they passed the squatting test with flying colours. I have so far worn them twice and, I have to say, they are the best pair of jeans I own!

Last stop was The Body Shop and I know what you are thinking 'uh oh. Here we go again with another list as long as my arm of The Body Shop products!' But, I only bought one thing, shock horror! This product is by far my favourite product from The Body Shop and that is the olive body scrub. The scent is amazballs, the scrub it's self if great and the fact that it lasts for a while is fantastic, which also does my bank account a favour as it is £13 a tub. Holy Grail product right here.

And that's it! Short but sweet!

Candle Corner #4 - Yankee Candle Snow In Love

This is the fourth post on this little blogging series and I thought I would write about my Yankee Candle Tea Lights in Snow in Love. These were a Christmas present from my best friend and, to say that she didn't know what scent I would like, she got it spot on. Even though the scent is in the Christmas collection, it isn't that Christmassy, probably because it isn't the typical cinnamon or Christmas tree scent. It is a fresh and slightly sweet scent which I think is perfect for all year round.

These tea lights are priced at £6.99 which is a little too much for candles, but they are worth it. The quality of the candles are amazing as you can smell them, even though you aren't burning them. Also, you get twelve tea lights  which burn for 4-6 hours each. In my opinion, the tea lights are definitely worth it because for the price, you get up to 48 hours of burning time where as with a small jar candle you only get up to 40 and you pay more for the jar candle, £7.99.

Priming like a PRO!

I have never been one to use a primer, I felt that whacking on a concealer, foundation and powder was enough. However, recently my skin has been getting oily through out the day and my make up wasn't lasting as long as it should have been. I also wanted a primer to make my make up last longer for my prom. So I did some research into what primers are good for the problems I was having. I then came across copious amounts of reviews on the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer on youtube and people's blogs, which turned my arm. So whilst I was browsing the Superdrug website and creating my own little wishlist of products, I noticed that Rimmel had a 2 for £10 offer on and I already wanted one of their lipsticks for £4.99, so I bit the bullet and bought the lipstick and the £5.99 primer. I have never looked back since!

It is essentially just like the Stay Matte Powder, which I love to death, but in the form of a primer. It is a thick white cream that once blended into the skin, creates a smooth base ready for your foundation. I have been using this primer for around a month now and it is safe to say that it is doing its job of mattifying and pro longing my make up wear.

My Updated Go To Make Up

I did one of these posts back in May 2014 and since I have changed my make up around a lot, I thought I would give you an updated version on my go to make up. I am not one for a big black smoky eye with a bright red lip, I tend to keep it simple, minimal and natural.

Firstly, I prime my face with the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer. This primer is absolutely amazing with it's instant matte effect and the ability to pro long my make up. Also, it glides perfectly onto the skin and feels natural, not like silicone.
I then apply concealer. For this I use the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in Light Porcelain and the W7 Hide It concealer in light medium. The foundation is perfect as it is a light formula, so it doesn't cake up. Also, it is a shade lighter than my skin, so it really brightens the under eye area. The hide it concealer is also amazing as it is nice and creamy, so it is easy to blend with my fingers.
I then apply my all time favourite foundation, the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in Ivory.  This foundation has a brilliant coverage, which is build able, and is very easy to blend into the skin. Also it makes your face look fresh and pore less. Next, I powder with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent. This power doesn't add any colour or coverage to the face,it simply does what it says on the tin. It mattifies your skin and makes your make up stay around for longer.

For eyes I add a touch of the concealer I used previously to my lids to create a base for my eye shadow. I then sweep the Make Up Revolution eyshadow in Hung Up across where I applied the concealer. I find that this eye shadow is the perfect colour for me as it is quite cool toned with undertones of grey and purple. A warmer toned eye shadow would make my skin look orange. Also, to say it is a pound, the quality is amazing with good pigmentation, good staying power and good packaging.
For mascara I use the Collection Fat Lash in black. This product is like my holy grail products as I have used it for two years and never strayed. I also use my tiny  Clinique High Impact mascara that I got out of an issue of Glamour. Together I get long, defined and voluminous lashes in a matter of minutes.

For lips I use the Sleek Lipstick in Barely There. For a natural colour I dabbed the product onto my lips straight from the bullet. This gives my lips a peachy tint which stay for the day.

What products make your go to face?

Candle Corner #3 - Yankee Candle Merry Marshmallow

This is the third episode of Candle Corner and I have to say I am loving this little blog series, they are great fun to write and take photos for. For this post I want to carry on talking about Yankee Candles but for another scent, Merry Marshmallow.
I should give you a little warning, from now on all my candles are either Christmas scents or Christmas orientated because they were either bought around that time or as a present for Christmas. Anyways, back onto the post.

Merry Marshmallow, even though it is part of the Christmas collection, isn't really that Christmassy. It sort of has a vanilla scent to it which is sort of Christmassy but overall it is a sweet smell. Again, like Turquoise Sky, it is a votive sampler. This means that I can try out the scent and if I hate it, then no hard feelings and if I love it, then I can repurchase it as a bigger candle.

This scent isn't an overpowering and strong scent, it is very subtle and light, which is what I love about it. As I have said previously, it has a vanilla scent so this candle really reminds me of cake!

Candle Corner #2 - Yankee Candle Turquoise Sky

This is the second installment of Candle Corner, the new little blog series I have created. So, as I said in the first post, I am going to do a review of each individual candle that I own. The first candle I chose to do a mini review of was one of my smallest candles, Turquoise Sky. This candle is a votive sampler, so it is quite small but really cheap so you can by loads.

This little votive was gifted to me for my birthday by one of my friends, so I had no choice in scent, it was pot luck on my friend's part. But, my friend made a good choice because it is such an amazing scent, but not one I would usually go for as it is a fresh sort of scent and I like sweet and spiced scents.

I love Yankee Candles as a whole because, yes there are a bit pricey, but they are so worth it. The range of scents is phenomenal as there is every scent you can think of, from floral to sweet to spiced to fruity, the scent is long lasting and can be smelled without you even lighting the candle.

What is your favourite Yankee scent?
