Candle Corner #15 - Village Candle Spiced Pumpkin

I have never liked pumpkin, the taste or scent, but when I smelt this I loved it and since it was 25% off because it was fragrance of the month, I picked it up. To say it is a pumkin scented candle, I can't smell the pumpkin, but I can definitely smell the spice of cinnamon.

It is definitely a sweet scent and one for autumn/winter. I'm so happy that I picked it up as I can't stop smelling it and can't wait to burn it. I'm just so glad that it burns for 18 hours so I have ages until it runs out!

Have you tried the village candles?

The Girl On The Train Book Review

One of the presents I received for my birthday was The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. Described as a psychological thriller, I didn't know whether I would enjoy it or want to read it to begin with. One reason I was put off was because people said it was a little disturbing, but I am glad that I read it.

Although it isn't my favourite genre of book, I think it is a good read. The novel follows the lives of three women - Rachel, Anna and Megan - and the events surrounding Megan's murder. Day in day out Rachel takes the train to and from London, past the town of Witney. As the train stops at Witney, Rachel looks at two houses - one where she used to live until she got divorced and is now the home of her ex-husband, his wife and child, and the other a home of a married couple whom she nicknames Jess and Jason. One day she discovers that Jess (who is actually called Megan) is having an affair and is enraged by it. When Meghan goes missing, Rachel is adamant that the man she was having an affair with is the culprit, and involves herself in the investigation.

At first I found it hard to get into the book and could only read a small amount at a time, but after the half way mark I found that I was hooked and didn't want to put it down. It definitely stands out from anything else I have read.

I have also heard on the grape vine that it is being turned into a film, which I am excited about and would love to see.

Have you read The Girl On The Train?

The Hardest Things About Blogging

When becoming you forget that there are hard jobs as well as easy to do. I have had my blog for twenty one months and have soon realised that blogging, at times, can be damn right hard. So I decided to compile a list of things I found and still find hard about blogging.

Coming Up With A Blog Name
Now that blogging is becoming evermore popular, it is becoming increasingly harder to come up with a good, memorable name. I remember when I was creating my blog and just how long it took for me to come up with a name I liked enough and that wasn't already taken.

Finding Time To Write and Prep For Posts
I am still a student, so I have to prioritise my time. I have to make sure all my college work is finished and then I can think about blogging. However, finding time is a lot harder as I have split my time between college, maintaining a social life, alone time and blogging. Now that I have started my first year of college I hardly get to see my old school friends as I have college for three days a week(they have college for five) and I spend my days off blogging or catching up on sleep and anything I have missed through the week. Luckily, I still get to text and phone my friends, so my social life isn't completely dead.

Coming Up With Fresh, New Content
When I first started blogging, I found it incredibly hard to come up with original blog post ideas. Anything I thought of, someone had already done and I knew mine wouldn't be as good. I still find it hard to come up with content, but I then know I either need to have a break or that I need to find inspiration, so I scroll through category after category on Bloglovin' explore.

Everyone knows that photos are a big part of a post, they are what attracts people attention. So in order to get people's attention, you need to have amazing photos. This means perfect lighting, a good selection of props and a good backdrop. When I first started blogging, I always took photos at night so I had an orange cast of my images from my light or it was poor quality because of the flash. Now, however, I have learnt that I need to take photos during the day from 10am - 2pm as that is when it is brightest, and that I need to find a suitable backdrop that isn't too cluttered.

Telling People You Have A Blog
It's not that I am ashamed of my blog, I am incredibly proud of the amount of people who read my blog. It is just that I feel like people will judge me for having a blog. But, I am slowly learning not to care about what people think, blogging is something I enjoy, so I am going to keep doing it.

What do you find hard about blogging?

Candle Corner #14 - Yankee Candle Salted Caramel

This scent has been haunting me for well over a year. My friend loves the scent and whenever it is autumn/winter, we always have to smell it in store. I get why she loves it, it is amazing. I can't really smell the salted part of it, but the caramel is definitely there. It just smells so yummy and is perfect for this time of year. Usually I find that candles don't have a strong scent, but this one definitely does, so much that you can smell it before you have even lit it.

I wish they made a room spray or perfume in this scent as I just want to smell it constantly. Every time I smell the candle it makes my mouth water, it is that yummy!

Have you smelt this scent? Thoughts?

NYE Party Nails

Happy New Year, and welcome to the first post of 2016!!!

For the end of 2015 I decided to paint my nails sparkly, instead of a plain colour like usual. The only colour I had that would match the outfit I was wearing was a nude by Nails Inc and then I added a sparkly topcoat from Barry M. The two polishes I used were Colville Mews (a nude) and Diamond Glitter (a silver glitter that reflects multi coloured). They worked so well together and look stunning on the nails. The Nails Inc Colville Mews nail polish was a free limited edition colour in a magazine, so you may not be able to find it.

It is definitely a simpler way to do NYE nails without dunking you fingers in a pot of glitter. Also, they are simple enough to go with any outfit at anytime of the year and you can change the colour of the polish or glitter.

What nails did you wear for NYE?

p.s next week the blogging schedule is back to normal, posting every Friday.
